Universal Map Editor (UME) is an editor designed for creating detailed 2D maps using textures and objects. It allows you to paint landscapes with brushes and a lasso tool, place various assets, work with layers, shadows, filters, and color effects, and export your final work as an image.
The editor is well-suited for visualizing fantasy maps, D&D maps, tabletop game assets, and more.
- Ease of Use
Constructing large areas using pre-made textures and object sets is significantly faster than manual creation in a standard graphics editor.
- Flexible Layer System
Landscapes and objects can be organized into separate layers, allowing you to hide, move, and edit them independently.
- Custom Asset Support
The editor is not limited to its built-in library; you can import your own images and create custom asset sets.
- Support for Large-Scale Compositions
Features like bulk selection, group operations, and mix-brushes streamline the process of working with a large number of objects.

7) Organize textures and objects into separate layers; manage their stacking order, visibility, and content.
8) Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, and specific color ranges directly within the editor.
9) Import your own assets, save your editable projects, and export finished maps as PNG files.

I originally created this tool for my own use, to streamline and simplify certain tasks, but I realized it might be useful to others as well. I hope you find the creative process enjoyable!=)
This is a pilot alpha version of Universal Map Editor. While core tools are already available, certain features, the user interface, and file formats may change in future updates.
It is recommended to keep backups of important projects before installing new versions. Bug reports, suggestions, and examples of maps you have created will help us improve the editor.
